A LOOK AT SOME OF OUR TECHNOLOGY
HIGH SPEED COMPUTER LINE
Another project was the rewiring of the building for internet
access. We have re-networked all the computers in the building.
(Approximately 125). We have installed a high speed T1 line. All
our computers are able to access the internet at this high transmission
speed. So a whole class, in the lab, can do projects involving
the WORLD WIDE WEB all at the same time. Also, in each classroom,
the teachers can access the internet and work with students from
either their desk computer or their student's computer.
VIDEO CONFERENCING
Holy Name School has a video conferencing unit. It uses this
unit to go on virtual field trips. The students have visited a
science museum, an elephant sanctuary, a one room school house
and had a meeting with a holocaust suvivor.
The video conferencing unit enables students and teachers
to visit places and meet people from across the country without
leaving the school. It is another way of integrating technology
into the curriculum.
Holy Name School has been recognized over the past years as
one of the model elementary schools in New York City in using
technology with students. We have visitors from both private and
public schools coming to see what we are doing.
