March's Students of the Month

Kindergarten - Athena Wagner
Watching this student go about their day warms my heart. I have watched this child sing “God Bless America,” and she really means the words. To be patriotic at such a young age is amazing. When she prays, she’s not just saying the words; she is really having a conversation with God. Everything this child does has meaning and thought put into it. Her way of being will bring joy to anyone who is around her. You probably know who she is because every time you’ve seen her, you can’t help but smile back. Congratulations to the March SOM Athena Wagner.
1st Grade Caleb Jean-Pierre
March’s SOM is a student who is very shy but has a warm heart. His positive attitude and kind ways has a warming effect during these winter months. In the morning he comes in with a smile and gets right to his morning work. This student’s work is always neat and completed on task. The other day as I was walking around checking classwork, I noticed that he had finished his work early and was helping a classmate with his math. He showed me what kind of person that he truly is . It is a pleasure to have him in our class. Congratulations, to 1st grades’ SOM Caleb Jean-Pierre!
2nd Grade Robert Betancourt
Second grade’s March SOM is a FRIEND!
Finds kind words to say.
Respects all children for who they are.
Ideal example to show second graders what it means to live as a child of God
Excited to hear new ideas,
Never excludes children from what he is doing,
Dares to be a best friend to all.
Congratulations to everyone’s friend
Robert Betancourt!
3rd Grade Gregory Saint-Hilaire
Everyone, take out a pencil and paper, we’re having a test right now!... Did I scare you? Well, our March SOM must have felt just as nervous and unprepared when he started Holy Name School in December, not in September like most students. This student, however, did not panic. He just worked very hard, even taking all his books home over Christmas recess! His effort and positive attitude have paid off, and he is doing really well. I can hardly wait to see how he does the rest of this year. I’m sure he will continue to succeed, with a smile on his face and pencil in hand. Congratulations and keep up the good work, Gregory Saint-Hilaire!
4TH Brea White
This month is a great time to recognize one of the nicest people in the fourth grade. She is a girl who does each task set before her to the best of her ability and always tries her best. One of the other reasons this child stands out is that she is able to take responsibility. If there is a job to be done, you can give it to her and she will see that it is carried out. This girl is also sweet, kind to her classmates, compassionate and forgiving. For all these reasons, we are happy to honor her as our student of the month. Congratulations to Brea White.
5TH Christian Waiters
He is a tiger with a veracious hunger for knowledge. Always using his keen eyes to look for the opportunity to display his quick response to new instructions, situations, methods and procedures but never once taking his eyes off the prize- ‘ to achieve!’ This young man is quite, calm but a force not to be reckoned with. Fifth grade is proud to select Christian Waiters as March’s Student of the Month.
6-1 Bernard Scudder
“You’ve come a long way, baby”. This young man has certainly come a long way in more ways than one. He has improved tremendously, both academically and socially; and his maturity level has stepped up a few notches, too. Everyday he comes in ready and roaring to go. He is always ready for what sixth grade has to offer. What an ideal student he has become! He is humorous, entertaining and outspoken. He is an all around beautiful individual who’s not afraid to speak his mind. This SOM is an excellent student whose work is always beautifully organized and presented on time. Congratulations and continue striving for greatness, Bernard Scudder!
6-2 Collin Naar
I am so proud of this student. He came in September as timid boy and now he is a confident young man. He has been developing good work habits and it clearly shows through the work he completes each day. He has made many fine contributions to our class and is an inspiration to his classmates.
This month’s SOM Award goes to Collin Naar.
7-1 Mariday Guerrero
Have you noticed that since the month of March began, the sun is shining brighter and longer each day?
Have you noticed that since the month of March began, people are exhibiting outward happiness and not looking away?
Have you noticed that since the month of March began, life is just wonderful, exciting, giving, new and not overrated?
Well, if you haven’t noticed any of the things I mentioned, maybe at the end of this SOM description, you will nod your head in agreement for all that is stated.
March is a month, so bright and sunny.
March’s SOM is hilarious and funny.
March’s SOM works hard to achieve success.
March’s SOM is somewhat better than the rest.
March’s SOM likes to laugh and giggle.
March’s SOM never gets stuck in the middle.
March’s SOM has been bothering me since September.
March’s SOM thinks I don’t remember.
The good and the hmmmmm…yes, clear your throat.
There was a time when I would sometimes get a note.
Asking for a chance to be better
How could I say no to a person that would grin.
March’s SOM is honest and respectful.
March’s SOM works hard to please all.
Until the nerves are shattered and then retreats behind a wall.
I admire the changes, although sometimes slow but steady,
But each time the teachers fuss, March’s SOM gets ready.
To make a positive change for the better.
I wish March’s SOM success in all endeavors.
Take the world by storm and try not to look back.
Stand tall and proud, I’ve seen you do that.
Keep faith in your pocket and God in your heart.
And one day all we see that you are smarter than before.
Congratulations to March’s SOM, and now we all know.
That you are March’s SOM, Mariday Guerrero
7-2 Kylie Reyes
March student of the month is an amazing girl. She is always willing to assist with anything thrown at her. From can you please get the copies, can you please distribute the papers, can you please collect the papers. I am starting to believe that her “real name” is Can You Please. Through all the demands she is always eager to assist. She definitely embodies Christ-like characteristics. Always ready to give but never expecting anything is return. She is always humble and pleasant. She is a breath of fresh air, as are many of the girls in my class. I am truly blessed to have come across such a genuine person, with an amazing spirit who never angers or complains. Let’s not forget to mentions she does a great job academically. March SOM is “Can You Please”, aka, Kylie Reyes.
8-1 JOSEPH UQUILLAS
This student is a teacher’s dream. Why, you may ask? The reason is because you never hear him unless you are supposed to. The only time I hear his voice is when he is answering a question. He is quiet and seems shy, but that is just his outward appearance. If you try to bully him, you will discover that he has a spine of steel. He works hard academically and his grades improve gradually with each semester. I know that if he continues on this path, he will be able to accomplish anything he puts his mind to. Congratulations to JOSEPH UQUILLAS, 8-1’s March Student of the Month!
8-2 Jillian Selch
March’ SOM is new this year to Holy Name School. While her transition at the beginning of the year was a little rough, she has learned to work hard and become a responsible student. Her enthusiasm to gain knowledge and hard work has helped her to make some achievements as she continues on wanting to excel. Congratulations! 8-2 SOM is Jillian Selch.
