OCTOBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Kindergarten Nicholas Marzan

The student of the month for October is a child who has shown his true colors much like the beautiful leaves of fall.  He has displayed thoughtfulness when answering questions, a quiet but concentrated look when I am teaching, and an impressive effort to learn how to write his name in just a couple of days.  His sweet demeanor is so enjoyable for his classmates and I to be around.  May this child continue to shine!  Congratulations to Nicholas Marzan.

First Grade - Anais Conde

And so we begin the year again, to choose one child who stands out as being a wonderful model of what it means to be a good first grader. Well the decision was a bit difficult. I had a few children who readily came to mind but there was one child that rose just a bit higher. She gets to school early. She gets unpacked quickly. She diligently completes her p.o.d notebook without a word. Then, voluntarily, assist other classmates who are struggling to get ready. She cheerfully comes to the aid of other classmates. I have witness this child help another tie his or her shoelaces. She takes great pride in being a Holy Name of Jesus student. During this harvest time of the year, this child has grown tall in the holy example of Jesus and his Most Blessed Mother. So it is with great joy, the first grade can offer our first fruits and present our October student of the month.....Anais Conde.

2-1 Brandon Morejo

As the leaves change into many beautiful shades of orange, yellow, and red, so to do the students of 2-1.  They come in just about ready to change over to second grade, but still hung on to what they needed when they were in first.  But now they are turning all those beautiful colors and making the change to second grade.  Our student of the month is new to Holy Name School so the change might have been more difficult for him.  He adjusted well to his new grade and new school.  He is well behaved and does his work to the best of his ability.  He shows how beautifully bright and colorful change can be.  We are proud of Brandon Morejo 2-1ıs October SOM.

2-2 Imani Hatcher

As the season of autumn arrive and the leaves start to settle on the ground, this student is also slowly settling into second grade. Even though she has a quiet demeanor and she is always hard at work. She is the kind of student who always keeps trying even when she does not understand something. Every day she comes to class with a positive attitude and with determination to do well. If she continues this way, she will have a great school year. Congratulations, to Class 2-2ıs SOM Imani Hatcher.

3rd Grade Jasmin Rodriguez

This monthıs honored student demonstrates the ideal qualities of a SOM.  This student obviously cares about school, puts tremendous effort into her work and her behavior, and is showing great progress.  She always asks to know if she is doing well in class, so sheıll get her answer now: Yes!  Keep up the good work.  It is a pleasure to have you in our class as a new member of the Holy Name family, Jasmin Rodriguez.

Fourth Grade Natalie Vaval

In the colorful season of autumn, it is our pleasure to recognize a student who adds beauty to our class the way the Fall leaves add beauty to our world.  This young lady has a great attitude toward her studies.  One look at her work and you know that she takes her education seriously.  She is well organized, has beautiful handwriting, earns excellent grades and is a caring and kind person.  How could we not honor a child such as her?   We wish her a great year in fourth grade and congratulate her on all she has achieved so far.  She is Natalie Vaval

What a start to the 2008-2009 school year.  Changes have taken place in both the students and within the school. With all the changes and the start of a new year, Octoberıs SOMis exhibiting the eagerness needed to survive 7th grade. She has come into the classroom with an attitude, not one of disrespect, but of perseverance and dedication to herself as a student. 7-2 Michael Joseph.

Wow, can you believe it!  It is already October and we have our first student of the month assembly. However, this year is a bit different.  Our 7-2 students of the month nominees will demonstrate qualities that will lead them from boys to men in the future.  This young man, from day one, has proven to be hard working, self-motivated, and extremely respectful.  Although lately, he has been a bit forgetful in relationship to his homework, he is generally extremely responsible with every task given to him.  What separates him from a few others is the fact that he is passionate about succeeding in7th grade.  It is a pleasure to select 7-2ıs man of the future Michael Joseph.

8-1 Dominique Benn

This student always has a smile on her face; she is helpful, polite and respectful to her teachers and her peers. To top it all off, she is also an excellent student. 8-1ıs October Student of the Month!!!

8-2 Emari Ward

This year itıs going to be a challenge for all our 8th graders as they prepare for their high school exams.  Some have come in this year ready to work and ready to take on an academic challenge while others are stuck on vacation mode.    This year I have the privilege of having a particular student who is making strides to improve his grades.   He took the initiative to join the tutorial program to better his chances not only on the TACHS exam but to improve overall academically.

Sometimes he can whine and  may be a bit annoying with all of his questions. That shows that he is thinking  So, even though he may not realize it, I admire him because he shows me that he does care about his future.  So keep asking away and I will do my best to find answers to your questions.  After all, thatıs how we gain knowledge by asking questions and searching for answers.  He has a great sense of humor and is a pretty cool dancer especially when he does his version of ³Chicken Noodle Soup.²  Keep up the good work and congratulations to

Emari Ward.
