OCTOBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Kindergarten - Samantha Suazo

Kindergarten's student of the month is a child who has adjusted to her new surroundings quickly.  She started the school year with almost too much excitement.  She has settled down nicely and is now setting a great example for her classmates.  She has excellent behavior, she contributes thoughtful answers to our class discussions, and she is so friendly to her peers.  Keep up the good work and congratulations to Samantha Suazo.

1-1 Jessica Panama

This sweet child entered Holy Name of Jesus School so very, very shy and withdrawn. She started out worried...but WOW,  has she blossomed.  She always covered her mouth when she spoke...now she raises her hand boldly and answers questions with great strength.  Her toothless smile shines forth and brightens my day. As she eagerly awaits her new front teeth, may she continue to grow more confident in her ability. During the month of the Holy Rosary, we turned to out most Blessed Mother, Mary and seek her intercession for the blessing of heaven for Class

1-1's SOM Jessica Panama.

1-2 Denise Ferreira

Class 1-2 SOM for October is a student who like the autumn leaves has found her place in first grade. When she first arrived to our class she was nervous and she would cry. I am happy to report that she is a student who is always prepared for class, listening attentively, and she always completes her work neatly. She is very polite to her classmates and she is a true joy to have in class. Great things will come from her this school year if she continues on the great path that she has started. Congratulations to Class 1-2 October's SOM, Denise Ferreira

2-1 Nathaniel Rodriguez

The first days of school are like a new beginning.  We set new goals and we feel excited about the new school year.  2-1ıs student of the month exemplifies this idea.  He is starting fresh and is eager to do well in this school year.  He is a good friend and a good student, from keeping his work area neat and organized to always having his nose in a book.  He has really started this year splendidly.  Congratulations to Nathaniel Rodriguez, 2-1ıs October Student of the Month.

2-2 Kanuel Madriaga

For every second grader each new year brings higher expectations and diverse challenges. Like the changing color of the leaves many students have shown some brilliant colors, with shades of creativity, hard work, and enthusiastic participation. I hope such vibrancy will not fade as winter begins to set in and that our SOM will continue to set an example for all. He has stood out among the leaves for his quick response to the classroom routines and directions. He shows outstanding focus and attentiveness in following The Great Commandment of loving God with all his heart. He also shows respect and kindness for his classmates and teachers. Congratulations to Kanuel Madriaga, SOM for Class 2-2.

3RD Grade  - Jaren Smith

This gentle quiet child has learned to let me hear his voice and notice his hard work, not so easy in such a large class.  When there is a job to do he does it, and he speaks up when he has something to say.  He sits up straight to listen, and can take the lead when asked.  He never has to be told twice what he has to do, and shows respect to everyone-heıs a model student through and through.  Congratulations and keep up the good work, Jaren Smith.

4-1 Caitlin Paniaqua

Organized responsible a real leader ...these are words to describe class 4-1's student of the month.  Although new to Holy Name School, this girl learned quickly what was expected of her and she rose quickly to meet those challenges. She does excellent academic work and approaches others with respect and helpfulness.  We are confident that we can look forward to great things from her in the future.  Congratulations to Caitlin Paniaqua.

4-2 Raymond Mejia

The student of the month is new to Holy Name School but has been in Catholic school before.  This is evident in his work habits and study skills.  He works hard and completes his assignments on time. When he has finished his work, you can find him studying, reading a book, or practicing his penmanship.  He is quiet in nature but has good ideas when it comes to classroom discussions.  I hope that he continues to develop these excellent character traits.  Congratulations to Raymond Mejia the SOM for Class 4-2

5-1 Randy Tolentino-Santana

Here we are once again, getting together one more year for the student of the month honorees. Well, this student has begun the year with the energy of a tornado, asking questions to everything and anything under the sun. The winds have now descended and heıs getting it. Class 5-1 is pleased to select Randy Tolentino-Santana as our October, 2007 SOM.

5-2 Eugene Clark

5-2 SOM is a new student to Holy Name who has adapted well to the school rules and curriculum. It is a pleasure to have such a fine young man who is always prepare for class and eager to learn. The Student of the Month for October is a person whose good manners and polite ways exemplify a student who knows how to conduct herself as a person of great character. This individual is one who is responsible, reliable, and trustworthy. Her work is always done neatly, illustrating the care that she invests in all she does. She has a gentle and quiet nature, which as she grows older, will undoubtedly have a strong influence on those around her.

It is a pleasure to have her in our class.  Congratulations to Kelly Ann Espera!

7-1 Shikia Bazil

As we start a new school year of learning, itıs rare to meet a young lady that is so goal oriented and ready to achieve great success. When I met her on the first day of school, I thought what a quiet young lady. Well that quiet demeanor is of no comparison to her true voice. She is a leader that loves to take charge of any situation. She focuses on achieving success and does not allow anyone or anything to stop her from being the best. One day she told me a story about her dad wanting her to miss school. This student was not pleased at all because she was going to miss her test. Arriving to school at 11:30am, I said to her, why are you here? Out of breath and looking worried, she replied loudly, ³I had to take my test.² I knew then that she was serious about her education. I am pleased to name her Octoberıs SOM because she is a caring and hardworking person that deserves this honor. Keep up the good work. Congratulations to Octoberıs SOM, Shikia Bazil.

7-2 Crystal Allbright

Although, Iıve only known this student for a short while, she has already proven to be determined and motivated to do well.  When at times students around her may be a bit lax, she is working on something educational. Her eagerness to help around the classroom is most impressive. As teachers, we always love a helping hand. Not only do I admire her as a student, I admire her as a person.  Sheıs polite and courteous to both her peers and her teachers.  I definitely see an all-bright future for 7-2 SOM Crystal Allbright.

8-1 Kevin Blanco

Most times when teachers hear that they will be receiving new students groan and hope for the best. This year I was pleasantly surprised not only did we have many new and delightful students added to our eighth grade roster, there is one very polite, quiet gentlemen in my homeroom.  I thought to myself, ³YES!² I got a good one.  He is always punctual, calm, cool and collected. He has a unique ability, which seems foreign to many eighth graders to appreciate the humor in things and not let his laughter go to far. His grades are steady and I believe we all will see many good things from this new addition to Holy Name School. Congratulations Kevin Blanco, 8-1ıs October Student of the Month!

8-2 James Jean

Itıs mid - October and the first marking period is almost over.  Since the first day of school this young man has shown his enthusiasm for choosing a high school. Heıs always been a very respectful, polite and energetic student.   Heıs always on time to school, heıs always prepared for class, does his homework and participates frequently in class.  More importantly, he has always been first in line to volunteer his services to others in the school including myself.  I am sure any high school that chooses him will benefit greatly. I find him, to be a good role model for other students and he exemplifies a student with good Christian values.  Congratulations, James Jean.
