MARCH STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Kindergarten  - Keiji Lohier

The SOM for March is a child who is slowly breaking out of his shell just in time for Spring.  He hasnıt spoke much at all since he started school.  I knew that he was very smart because it showed in his work but I couldnıt get him to talk.   When he finally felt more comfortable to talk in class, we just couldnıt hear him.  With a little egging on from his classmates he started to speak loud enough for us to hear him.  Now we can hear all of the wonderful things this child has to say.  He is even going around class campaigning for Barrack Obama!  Congratulations to Kindergartenıs March SOM, Keiji Lohier.

1-1 Adriana Aponte

As the bleakness of winter gives way to the warmth of longer days, grade one holds one child above all others as student of the month. This child is very helpful to all her classmates. She is working very hard and gaining great knowledge of all her skills. By being faithful to making donations to the missions, she has shown she understands the call of Jesus to assist the poor. As she is the apple of her dad's eye, she is very special to class 1-1. Congratulations to Class 1-1 SOM. Adriana Aponte.

1-2 Nia Vasquez

As we begin the month of March we think about shamrocks, leprechauns and pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. This student is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. She is courteous, respectful, studious, responsible, and polite to name a few of her best qualities. She is also a good classmate, when they are in need she is always prepared to help them. Everyday she comes into class with a positive attitude, her homework is completed and done neatly and she is prepared to learn the dayıs lessons. I am happy to have this student in my class.

May Saint Patrick and all of the angels in

heaven continue to guide and protect her. Congratulations! to Class 1-2 SOM Nia Vasquez.

2-1 Alexander Valcourt

During this Lenten Season we look for inspiration to help us remember to live as Jesus taught us.  2-1ıs student of the month is what all students should aspire to live like.  He is always eager for learning knew things.  He is a great friend to others.  He gives his best in all he does.  All his classmates and his teachers love him.  His intelligence is shown in all the work he does and his compassion is expressed in how well he treats others.  We are proud of 2-1ıs March SOM Alexander Valcourt.

2-2 Crissel Mejia.

2-2ıs Student of the Month came to Holy Name School in September from St. Francis. Over the months second grade presented quit a challenge but recently she has started to gain her stride. She has shown great determination, perseverance, and courage. She is always trying, willing to participate, and attempts all assignments presented to her. Our SOM often reminds us of the story The Hare and the Tortoise for she is certainly trying to live the saying: slow and steady wins the race. We hope she will continue making great progress along the second grade race path towards the finish line in June. We will all be there cheering her on.  Congratulations to Crissel Mejia.

3rd Grade Julia Betancourt

As we spring forward this month, I find myself wishing I could spring forward ten years to see the many marvelous accomplishments that I am sure this student will achieve.  I predict great success as a possible author and illustrator for this student, and I hope to be present for her first book signing.  She is Julia Betancourt!

4-1 Justin Gelin

There is a young man in Class 4-1 who has been patiently and steadily working to earn the honor of being our student of the month.  This month all his hard work has been rewarded.  The boy we honor this month makes his presence felt in a quiet, helpful and pleasant way.   He continually does his best academic work and treats his classmates with respect.  Yet he likes having fun and is very enjoyable to spend time with.  With so many great qualities, he is bound to be successful wherever life takes him.  We are very proud of this boy and wish many blessings for him.  Our student of the month is Justin Gelin.

4-2 Taliyah Rivera

The SOM for March is truly a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.  She is polite, hard working, and just a joy to have around.  I have never heard her utter a mean word to anyone; she has excellent grades, and always has a cheery smile upon her face.  Like a leprechaun she is small in size but huge in character.  Irish eyes were truly smiling at me when Taliyah Rivera walked into my class. May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.  Congratulations!

5-1 Chaz Marshall

In the beginning this student was the class entertainer, and a bit sarcastic. Like spring in the air, the new season has brought a new positive attitude toward school and classmates . Hopefully this new change will follow thru the upcoming seasons.

Class 5-1 is proud to have chosen Chaz Marshall as Marchıs SOM.

5-2 Kylie Reyes

5-2ıs SOM is quiet and respectful. She is courteous and helpful to her peers.  She has made diligent progress in all academic areas and she is determined to succeed. She has gained confidence because she is now more eager to participate during class. Congratulations, to  March  SOM, Kylie Reyes.

6-1 Adrian Gooding

Marchıs student of the month is someone who extracts the most from his schooling.  For him each new day is an opportunity to expand his mind.  He always asks the questions that show that he has not only paid attention, but that he is capable of advanced conceptual thought.  It is truly a pleasure to have him in our class.  Congratulations to Adrian Gooding.

6-2 Rafael Vega

This student is a pleasure to teach.  He takes his work seriously and always tries his best.  He is an independent thinker that enjoys expressing his thoughts and ideas with the class.  It is my pleasure to have him in my class. This monthıs SOM Award goes to Rafael Vega.

7-1  Chantal Mota

I love the month of March because it starts one of my favorite seasonsŠSpring. This season brings new things and 7-Marchıs SOM brings something new to the classroom everyday. Her attitude is pleasant and her ability to adjust to any situation is appreciated. No matter if I am fussing or laughing, she turns all situations into a positive one. She is an excellent student and her 90+ average says it all. I am glad to have her in my class again and I congratulate her for doing an excellent job. No more scrunchies and keep your head held high.  Congratulations to Marchıs SOM Chantal Mota.

8-1 Stephon Mosley

The first thought upon meeting this student is, ³Wow, he is a tall one!² Sometimes, I chuckle when I realize that, I will always know when this student approaches due to the immediate shade he produces. Even though, he is known for his height, this student is also inherently polite. If another student drops a book he is the first to pick it up and give it back. If a student has trouble reaching something he offers his service without being asked. Even though he can be a bit chatty, he is a gentleman to the core and a tribute to his parents. His academic performance has improved tremendously, indicating his decision to do well in life. These qualities, I believe will carry him far in life. Congratulations to Stephon Mosley, 8-1ıs

March Student of the Month.

8-2 Destinyee Green

One of the first things that pops into my mind every morning when I come into work is, ³I wonder how many kids are going to be out today?²  Itıs funny, some kids are out a lot for legitimate reasons, and others are just out because they have been fooling around in class and the big test is tomorrow and they havenıt studied.  Well, as far as I can remember, I look at the tables and I see an individual that is a constant in my class.   She always does her work and if sheıs confused about something, she raises her hand or sees me after class for help. This young lady is constantly volunteering to help out even when sheıs pressed for time.  The one thing I admired most about this young lady is that she uses mind over muscle.  This young lady realized that graduating from school and honoring her parents with that very important gift was more important than showing off to her friends.  This is the act of someone who is brave and a person who stands out as an individual with strong convictions always thinking of others.

Class 8-2 is proud to announce Destiny Green as student of the month for March.
