For
many, a new year means a new beginning.
But there is a child in Kindergarten who has been on the right track all
along. She has been trying right
from the start of the school year to be the best student that she can be. She has so many special qualities that
make her stand out: she is kind, loving and helpful. Her happiness is contagious, as you canÕt help but smile
when she smiles. May she continue
to care about school and friends for the rest of this year and for many years
to come! Congratulations to the
Kindergarten student of the month for January, Gabrielle Forestal.
1st
Grade Robert Betancourt
Jan
uary took way
too long to get here for the sweetest, kindest, nicest most prayerful student of
first grade. This child sat and wondered why, but never question why his name
had not been called all these many months- but wait no more. This young boy is an absolute pleasure
to have in my classroom. As we begin to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, this
child stands out as a shinning example of why catholic schools exist. May the blessings of heaven pour down
upon this child and all whom he holds dear to his heart. It is with great joy that first
grade can hold up to all a fine example of a student of the month, our very
ownÉRobert Betancourt.
2-1
Shane Francis

With the cold weather coming, we want something or someone to warm our hearts. 2-1Õs SOM warms our hearts with his charm and good nature. Not only does he do his work correctly and to the best of his ability, he is fun to be around. He is always smiling and talking kindly to his friends and teachers--mostly about his new puppy. He does this only when he has completed the assigned classroom task. He warms the hearts of all whom he is around. IÕm proud of Shane Francis 2-1Õs January Student of the Month
2-2
Denise Ferreira

As we bring in
the New Year, and we make our New YearÕs resolutions, this student definitely
has a goal in mind for this year. She is sweet, kind, polite, well mannered,
responsible, a child of God and very studious to say the least. I have had the
pleasure of having this student for two years and she has always taken her
education seriously at the tender age of 7. I am honored to have a student like
her in my class. Congratulations! To Class 2-2Õs SOM Denise Ferreira

Sun
shining, birds singing, warm breeze blowing-it must be spring! Well, the calendar may say otherwise,
but the third grade student of the month can chase away the winterÕs chill air
with a warm smile and kindness.
Reliable, intelligent yet humble, this student brings an early spring to
our class every day. Congratulations
and thank you to Alexander Valcourt!

4th Grade Marielle Mouflet.
This month it is the fourth gradeÕs pleasure to honor one of our very nicest and kindest students. You might use the word angelic to describe her because when you are with her and feel her goodness, you know that God must be nearby.
This girl has been very welcoming to new students in class, ready to help them get adjusted to Holy Name School. She is also very diligent in her work, bringing the very best she has to offer to class each day. Because of these fine qualities, she richly deserves the honor of being our student of the month. Congratulations to Marielle Mouflet.
5-1
Christian Tavarez

This
student is no stranger to accolades. He is a cooperative and alert 5th
grader who completes his work quickly and accurately. He is always prepared to
find desirable work to occupy his extra time. His excellent work is a
reflection of his fine attitude and effort. Class 5-1 is proud to have chosen
Christian Tavarez as JanuaryÕs SOM.
5-2
Kendra Warner

SOM
is a delightful young lady with good work habits and a positive attitude
towards school. She is pleasant, respectful, has great leadership and is always
prepare for class. Her pleasant personality is one that any teacher would be
delighted to have in their class. Congratulations! 5-2 SOM for Jan. is Kendra
Warner.
6-1
Rose Carmel Altidor

The
Student of the Month for January is a person whose good manners and polite ways
exemplify a student who knows how to conduct herself as a person of great
character. This individual is one who is responsible, reliable, and
trustworthy. Her work is always done neatly, illustrating the care that she
invests in all she does. She has a gentle and quiet nature, which as she grows
older, will undoubtedly have a strong influence on those around her. It is a
pleasure to have her in our class.
Congratulations to Rose Carmel Altidor!
6-2
Dionne Muylade

When I think of this student, the first words that come to mind are: friendly, hard worker and caring. She is always volunteering to help her teachers and classmates. She always goes that
Òextra mileÓ to ensure that she has completed her work in the manner in which
it was instructed. She is truly an excellent example of a Holy Name student.
This
monthÕs SOM Award goes to Dionne Muylade.
7-1Theresa Alexis

What
can possibly be said?
That
doesnÕt leave you scratching your head.
JanuaryÕs
SOM is bright young girl.
That
always wears something with a swirl.
She
makes teaching oh, so fun.
And
she can never be outdone.
Her
smile, her poise, her grace.
Leaves
you with a smile on your face.
She
is a good student that tries very hard.
Not
to disappoint you or let down her guard.
Her
friendliness is more than giving.
She
opens up to all that are willing.
To
be themselves and nothing more.
This
is why we adore.
JanuaryÕs
SOM, she is the best.
Congratulations
to Theresa Alexis.
7-2 David Ocasio
This
monthÕs student of the month has been consistent since day one. He works really hard towards achieving
academic success. He reminds me of a winter stormy night, silent, yet fierce.
Believe it or not at times I wish he would, talk, shout, jump! I know these are attributes that we, as
teachers, generally do not want a student to have. However, he is just so quiet I wouldnÕt mind him having a crazy
moment. However, I am pleased that
his perseverance and determination is seen and heard by his teachers, loud and
clear. 7-2 awards our silent storm as
January SOM, David Ocasio.
8-1 Michelle Rivera

This student is a teacherÕs
dream. SheÕs polite, kind and works very hard to achieve her goals.
Even when she is afraid she
endures. Earlier this year, she was petrified when she had to present a project
to her class. To my amazement, through her fear she continued to present her
project shaking all the while. Her courage knows no bounds and she has shown
that nothing will stop her from doing her best work. Now, when she gets up in
front of the class you wouldnÕt even know that she was once horrified at the
prospect of public speaking. She is a wonderful human being and I am so proud
that she has conquered her fear. I already know that she can accomplish
anything that she puts her mind to and who knows maybe she might end up on T.V!
Congratulations to 8-1Õs January Student of the Month, Michelle Rivera!
8-2 Jose Buelto

ItÕs
2009, a new year. This is the time
for new beginnings, time for change.
This month is a very important and significant month. We celebrate Martin Luther KingÕs
birthday on the 19th and as if it were a Godsend, the very next day,
January 20th, we inaugurate our first African American president,
Barack Hussein Obama. Who
would have thought that in our lifetime we would be experiencing such a
dramatic change in our country?
This
comes to show, that with hard work, dedication and words not fists can positive
change come about. Education is
the key to success. One young man in my class is going down the same path as
Mr. King and President Obama. He
is hard working, polite, helpful, assertive, and intelligent , but above all he
is an inspiration. I am sure his
parents are very proud of him, as am I.
I see a bright future for this young man in whatever field of study he
chooses because he wants better things for himself and his family. Congratulations to Jose Buelto for
being such an inspiration to your fellow classmates.
