JANUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Kindergarten
- Kristin Burgos

K-2ıs
SOM for January is an exceptional child.
She is the perfect example of what an all- around great student is all
about. She enjoys listening to
stories, singing, writing, drawing, and doing art projects. Day after day, she gives every lesson
her best effort. If she doesnıt
understand something, sheıll let me know and ask for help because she cares
about learning. She cares so much
that sheıll come in and ask questions or make comments on the previous nightıs
homework. Good behavior is also
important to this student, as she is always thoughtful about trying hard to
follow all of the classroom rules.
Congratulations to K-2ıs SOM, Kristin Burgos.
1-1
Nestor Pimental

It is only fitting, that as we cap this wonderful week when
we celebrate catholic schools the class of 1 1 can uphold a shinning example
that lights the classroom. This young child has a shy way about him in class,
yet beams with delight as he plays in the yard with his classmates. I know the cold
winter months are hard on him. He constantly shows a beautiful and sweet love
toward his younger sister. His classmates see him as good friend who is always
willing to share a pencil or assist in solving a word problem. May our blessed lord and his most
glorious mother continue to bless this child with their love. For the month of
January,
Class 1-1 has chosen Nestor Pimental as their shinning
star.
1-2
Genesis Ortiz

The
SOM for January is a student who is truly a pleasure to have in our class. This
young lady is a perfect example of what a good student should be. If you come
into our classroom you will always find her hard at work. She is always
prepared for class and her work is always done neatly. Her quite demeanor and
seriousness would make you think she is not friendly. On the contrary she is a
sweet and friendly girl. When her classmates are in need she is always there to
help. When you hear this students name you will understand why she is our SOM.
If she continues down this path, I see a bright future for this young lady. I
will need your help in order to call her name. Ready! G-E-N-E-S-I-S! What does
it spell! Genesis! Congratulations to class 1-2 SOM Genesis Ortiz.
2-1
Justin Chery

During Catholic Schools Week, we are celebrating Catholic Schools Light the Way. Our student of the month exemplifies this idea. He is excited about school and eager to learn. He has many interests and always sits at his desk doing some activity, whether it is one I assign or one he asks to do. He is prepared for class everyday, he contributes interesting facts and he has become the classıs official speller. This child truly can ³light the way² for other students. We are proud of Justin Chery 2-1ıs SOM for January.
2-2 Alyse Mills

In the midst of what seemed to be a chaotic and
stormy January we take time to recognize one student who tried to instill calm,
patience, and peace. This student has not uttered an ill word toward another.
She is a student who consistently shows respect to her classmates and teachers
and has demonstrated great effort towards all her work. She is certainly a
remarkable student who is attentive in class and quick to respond to
directions. She is also a creative student as shown by her unique visual presentation
of her social studies project. What a pleasure she is to have in our class. May
her beacon of light continue to shine bright for all to follow. Congratulations to our SOM,
Alyse
Mills.
3rd Lesley Pagan

There
is nothing more gratifying to a teacher than to find a student that has not
only learned what has been taught, but has absorbed the material and applied it
in some new and meaningful context.
It is this type of student that inspires teachers to carry on. I have been blessed with just such a
gem in my class. She is a beacon
of light whose character is true to the theme of Catholic Schools Week. May she continue to inspire others as
she has inspired me. She is Lesley
Pagan.
4-1
Christian Tavarez

Exemplary
is the first word that comes to mind whenever I think of this student. Other words that describe him are conscientious,
respectful, prayerful, concerned, quiet and aware. He never fails to provide
his classmates with a positive example of what they could and should be doing
at any given moment. For
this reason, he is a valued and important member of class 4-1. With confidence,
we look forward to seeing him continue to achieve and succeed as he works his way through fourth
grade. Congratulations to him. He is
Christian Tavarez.

5-1
Sandra Williams

This student has spunk !!! Sheıs a contradiction to the status quo without insulting anyone. She does not fear standing alone on any issue. She has learned at an early age that the road to success is not to be afraid of failing, but to learn from your mistakes and avoid repeating them. It is obvious she is a wise young lady and a must have in any class. Class 5-1 is proud to have Sandra Williams as Januaryıs SOM.

Tiffany Santos

This student has been blossoming beautifully these past few months. She had an "AH, HA" moment just a few weeks ago. She now loves reading books. She has learned that reading can take you to places that you have never imagined. It's such a pleasure to see a student find joy in something that will have a lasting effect in her future. This month's SOM Award goes to Tiffany Santos.
7-1
Rachid Telfort

Since
the beginning of the school year, this student has been the type of person that
has exhibited great respect towards classmates and teachers. It has been a
pleasure having him in my class because no matter what the situation, he always
remains composed, cool, and cooperative. Even as we entered a new year he has
continued to surprise me with his calmness and quiet demeanor. Never has he had
one bad thought or word towards another person and his helpfulness has been
much appreciated. His grades reflect his hard work and positive attitude
towards learning and I am glad he is once again the recipient of this award.
Happy New Year to Januaryıs SOM and may the year continues as positively as it
started. Good job and keep up the good work. 7-1ıs SOM for January is Rachid
Telfort.

I
have seen this student blossom from a quite student to a very pleasantly
sociable student. He has also
improved academically, moving from one to another. He has proven that hard work and determination does pay
off. This student is always
prepared and enjoys participating in class discussions. He is extremely
inquisitive and keeps me on my toes and
because of him, Group One always has to research something. They love
him sooo much. This student is such a tremendous pleasure to have around. Seeing him everyday with that big
beautiful smile really makes my day. Iım pretty sure his peers feel the same.
It is my pleasure that I present to Januaryıs student of the month Jenme
Sanchez.
8-1
Ayana Holloway

³
If you knock the door shall be opened to you.² This student knocks then waits
politely, and then knocks again. She is calm, cool and collected, however she
is equally aggressive in her dedication to achieve academic success. She is a
joy to teach, congratulations to Ayana Holloway, 8-1ıs January Student of the
Month!!!

Half
of the school year has passed.
Midterms are behind us and our 8th graders have received
their high school results. Yes,
just two more quarters and soon you will be on your merry way to begin a new
journey in your lives, high school.
Before that journey begins, much work needs to be done and for some
there must be a growth in the level of maturity. Many of you have grown and have matured plenty throughout
this past year. One student that
particularly comes to mind is John Daniel. He comes to class ready to do work, stays out of trouble, he
is polite and he is a very pleasant young man to have as a student. Keep up the good work and make us all
proud as you wear the colors of Holy Name as a badge of honor.
