January's Students of the Month

Kindergarten Mikael Conde
The SOM for January is the child that every teacher loves to have in his or her classroom. He’s the one you don’t have to worry about because you know no matter what is going on, he’ll always be doing the right thing. He’s the one that quietly completes his work, the one that listens to everything you say, and is an example for all of the others. Some may forget he is even there, but this child is certainly unforgettable! Congratulations to the Kindergarten January SOM, Mikael Conde.

1st Grade Miles Riley
January SOM is a student who is new to Holy Name. In the beginning of the school year, he used be sad every morning and cling to his mother. Then the other day as I was greeting my class, I noticed that this student is no longer sad in the morning. Now he comes in and waves good-bye to his mom with a happy face. Even though this student has a few challenges, he works hard everyday to overcome them. His work is always neat and is completed on task. The one thing, I like about this student is his positive attitude. We are truly blessed to have this student in our class. Congratulations to first grades’ SOM Miles Riley!

2nd Grade Keiji Lohier
With the shortening of light during these winter months, second grade has the student that will light the way. He is quiet and tends to be over looked with this boisterous class. I choose him so he can be a guiding light for this class to follow. He is brilliant and is always willing to share that knowledge with others. He’ll show his friend how to do a job and stand back and allow the friend to get the praise. He knows when he cannot help and will ask me to help the student instead of just walking away. When he does have something he struggles with, he works continuously to become better. Our January student of the month is truly a beaming light for second graders to follow. Congratulations Keiji Lohier.

3RD Grade Brandon Merejo
I am so glad to finally get the chance to honor this month’s SOM. If you have ever wondered what a future president of the United States might look like in third grade, take a good look. This student always works diligently, and shows excellent effort even when a task is difficult. He does not waste time complaining about nonsense or whining about what others are doing. His behavior has been the best since school began, and he shows respect to everyone. What a pleasure it is to have him in third grade! Congratulations to Brandon Merejo.

4th Grade Alexander Valcourt
The fourth grade is so fortunate to have such a great boy as our student of the month.
If you wanted to know who he is and what he is like, you could use the first four letters of his name.
He is A lways L ooking toward EX cellence!
If you haven’t guessed by now who our student of the month is, we’ll bring him up on stage.
He is Alexander Valcourt and we are very proud of him.

5th Grade Natalie Vaval
This student is a glimmering stardust waiting to form into one radiant giant star that will always shine in her academic endeavors. Many will recognize her contributions but few will doubt her sincere accomplishments. We are fortunate to have her as a classmate and student. The fifth grade is proud to have Natalie Vaval as our January’s SOM.

6-1 Carina Lopez
Whether it’s within a crowd or she’s spied from a distance, this young person can be spotted in any environment because she possesses one of the biggest and brightest smiles in the sixth grade. She’s humorous, entertaining, and out spoken. She is an all around beautiful individual who’s not afraid to speak her mind. This SOM is also a great student whose work is always beautifully organized and presented on time. She even finds time to help out in the classroom. A heartfelt “thank you” to this student who has won the admiration of her teachers. Congratulations and keep doing what you’re doing Carina Lopez!

6-2 Simeon Moorehead
This student has made a significant improvement since he started in this school in September. He knows exactly what is expected of him and why. He has made many fine contributions to our class and is an inspiration to his classmates. With his friendly and cooperative attitude, he will be a pleasant addition to any class. This month's SOM Award goes to Simeon Moorehead.

7-2 Jason Alamo
Well, here we are 2010 for January Student of the Month.
Sorry ladies, but I had to choose from the men. A silent storm is what heís called.
He sits in class so quiet and attentive.
All the while, absorbing every bit of information. He ís quiet yet his determination is loud. Oh, I am so proud. His academics soar to the sky, his grades keep climbing high. It is extremely difficult to find a young man with all so many good qualities:
Keen, intelligent, organized, responsible, cool and eager. Hmmm, he has the qualities of our nationís leader! I call him Thomas and I don't know why. He ís so respectful with all his replies. Look out future for this silent storm. When he strikes don't say I didn't warn. I say all this to say, we are so blessed to have Jason Alamo as one of ours! Congratulations.

8-1 Gabriela Moura
This student may appear to be very shy but she stands out. She is noticed because of her excellent demeanor. She is kind, helpful and always striving to do better in her academics even though she is already one of my top students. Her wonderful attitude is just one of the many things that makes her such a terrific young lady! Congratulations to GABRIELA MOURA, 8-1’s January Student of the Month!!

His pleasant personality is one that any teacher would be delighted to have in their class. Congratulations! 8-2 SOM is Johnnie Singleton
