The Big Swim

There once was a teenage boy named Greg Subject. Greg had a brother named Nemrick Noun and a sister named Sheila Pronoun. Nemerick was always touching something, calling someone, or going some place; he was very busy. Sheila, on the other hand, was calm, cool and collected. She usually did the same as Nemerick, but in a quiet, simpler way.

One morning, Greg was heading out the door to school when the phone rang. Greg picked up the receiver and received a burst of noise and excitement from Antonio Interjection, the loudest kid in school. "Greg! Greg! Guess what? School is closed for repairs! Today's a free day!" Greg stopped his brother and sister from going out the door and told them the news. Greg thanked Antonio for telling him the news and hung up. Nemerick called his best friend, Drew Adjective, and told him the news also. Drew was closer to Nemerick than Greg; they always hung out when Nemerick wasn't busy. The four teenagers decided to go swimming, so they called Antonio and asked if he wanted to come, but he said he was busy and couldn't make it. "Busy? School is closed. What could you possibly be busy doing on a day when school is out?" Greg asked, but Antonio didn't reply, he just hung up.

After arriving to the pool, the teenagers changed into their bathing suits and jumped into the water. They looked across the pool and saw a tall, muscular man giving lessons to the adult. "His name is Vincent Verb," said Nemerick, "he's the swimming instructor here." Nemerick always seemed to know everybody's name, but nobody asked how. Nobody cared.

Soon the teenagers got bored and decided that they wanted to play with a beach ball while in the pool. They got Vincent to go to the sports store with the money they gave him, and when Vincent returned, he told the teenagers that they had to go to the Conjunction Section of the pool.

At 3:00 p.m., the teenagers headed home. Greg, Sheila, and Nemerick didn't feel like walking back home. They lived up a hill, so they called a cab from a company called Pee-Wee Prepositions. When they got home, Greg's mom scolded him for skipping school. Greg called Antonio and asked why did he lie, but Antonio only replied. "Gotcha!"
